I bloody love the Urban Hill Climb.
There aren't many events where you can get so close the athletes. As they haul themselves up the 200ft of Swain's Lane in Highgate, you can almost smell the pain of each rider. This year's edition was the biggest yet, with almost 400 crazy people racing for glory over a course that isn't even half a mile long. And if that wasn't enough, we had cargo bikes, a Brompton category and a 100kg giant from DHL tackling the infamous climb.
Fuelled once again with coffee from the excellent Apemen and the Bean, I camped out at my usual spot, right where the gradient hits a maximum and the legs are on fire...
